Below you will find monsters, stories, and thank you letters from 20 years of school visits. I love drawing monsters with kids (and adults) because there is no wrong way to do it. Monsters are beautiful no matter how they look. Looking at these drawings brings joy to my heart. You can feel the creativity bursting from each one. Sometimes I’m tempted to take this activity out of my presentation to fit in something else, but in so many of their letters kids tell me that drawing monsters is their favorite part of my presentation. Drawing monsters might seem silly or frivolous at first glance. It probably doesn’t check any boxes for teaching standards. But it gets kids creating enthusiastically, joyfully, and you can see them lose themselves in it. I’m so happy to share these monster drawings with you. Maybe you’ll see yours here!
